In “Images from Space” Ocean and Vance explore the nature of “dreamscapes” through an
array of oversaturated symbolism and playful form. The artists explore how reality is an uncanny
land, transforming personal thoughts into fictional realms. Exploring multimedia disciplinaries -
from digital, airbrush, painting, and sculpture, the work embarks on a clustering of color, shape,
and fluidity within each artist's work. Ocean channels signals from the cosmos and adapts physical media into metaphorical,
metaphysical messages. Playing with make believe symbols and telling stories through dots,
lines, unique palettes and textures the artist aims to reflect the subconscious and return to a
childlike mindset, that is, free of rules and inhibitions. Vance showcases POV acrylic paintings
through the lens of fictional characters experiencing reality in a parallel landscape, close enough
for comfort, but devoid of the familiar. Hand in hand these characters decode and investigate
the atmosphere and imagery depicted within fragmented still-lives created by the artist.
