Generations showcases the work of David, Peter and Theo Scherrer. As grandfather, father and son, their work offers glimpses into three separate, yet deeply intertwined perspectives; plotting a multi-generational landscape in photography, painting and ceramic sculpture. David Scherrer began taking photographs at age nine, while living in S.E. Asia. Much of his childhood was spent overseas, and the photographs he takes today have their roots in his early experiences. “When I am working with the camera, I am hunting for visual elements that, combined with my emotional responses, come together in the viewfinder to create compositions.” Peter Scherrer is a contemporary artist who works primarily in painting and woodblock printmaking. His work approaches the subject of nature and landscape in a unique way, incorporating symbolism, layering and abstraction. Peter draws inspiration from hiking and road tripping around the Pacific Northwest, gardening, and his family. His work has been exhibited throughout the US and Canada.  Theo Scherrer grew up in Bellingham, WA and is currently a sophomore at Sehome High School, where he whiles away the hours doodling in his notebooks and making ceramics and jewelry. When he’s not in school, he enjoys thrifting, skiing, and playing music. His work is inspired by the acid grunge alt-graffiti aesthetic and the landscape of the Pacific Northwest.
