Kristen Diederich
Kristen Diederich (b. 1994 Tallahassee, Florida) is a painter based in Portland, Oregon. Diederich’s characteristic abstract painting style emerged during periods spent in coastal Maine, Oregon and Europe. Reminiscent of 19th century compositions, her bright and layered contemporary abstracts enter cinematic depths of field with an empathy for that which isn’t human. Titles for Diederich’s paintings reveal her study of creative writing at Portland State University, which are sourced from her ongoing poem document that spans the last ten years. Diederich exhibited during Frieze week LA 2025 with Lobster Club gallery, hung her first solo show November 2024 at Chefas Projects in Portland, Oregon and most recently opened Summer season with a solo show at Carver Hill Gallery in Camden, Maine. Diederich has enjoyed residencies at The Waldoboro Inn, Whitehead Island Lighthouse, South Jetty Cottage, Sou’ Wester Arts, among others. She is the President’s resident artist at Oregon State University 2025-2026, where her work will be on view for the public. She is currently presenting at Geheim gallery in Bellingham, Washington. Diederich is represented by Carver Hill and Lobster Club galleries.
