Josh Mcdonald
Josh McDonald is a landscape painter attempting to tell a story through his own created symbolism. A story that describes the natural structure and landscape of an Oregon farm, the aesthetic and colors of a 1970s ranch house, and the creatures that inhabit an area known as the high desert. Josh uses abstraction to create this narrative through geometric form, details inspired by early Modern art movements such as cubism. His works are high in contrast and depth, shadow and light, and are often presented with a limited color palette. These guidelines are inspired by De Stijl and Neoplasticism, both known for following a rigid rhetoric of painting in a particular set of angles.
